The Permanent Forum urges Member States to provide financial support to the trust fund on indigenous issues (fund 32FII) to support the work of the Forum in implementing its mandate and to the United Nations Voluntary Fund for Indigenous Peoples to facilitate the participation of indigenous peoples in key United Nations meetings and processes. The Forum recommends that States, private foundations, intergovernmental organizations and NGOs support the work of indigenous-led funding initiatives.

The Permanent Forum recognizes the important interconnections between the Sustainable Development Goals and indigenous languages, as well as the integration of gender equality principles, as described in the Global Action Plan, and proposes that such indicators be included in the post-2030 development agenda to ensure the sustainability of outcomes and the continuity of efforts established by the International Decade. The Permanent Forum recommends that UNESCO and its member States initiate work, with the possible assistance of the Statistical Commission, on indigenous language-related data, with adequate funding to support the post-2030 priorities. The Permanent Forum invites the Indigenous Navigator to offer its tools and data for the global collection of data on indigenous languages.

The Permanent Forum welcomes the updated IFAD Policy on Engagement with Indigenous Peoples, developed in consultation with the steering committee of the Indigenous Peoples’ Forum at IFAD, and recommends that IFAD further strengthen its policies on consultations and Indigenous Peoples’ food systems. These should include, inter alia, a focus on climate change, food security, and strengthening country-level partnerships, and resource mobilization.

The Permanent Forum welcomes the report transmitted in the note by the Secretariat entitled “International expert group meeting on the theme ‘Indigenous Peoples in a greening economy’” (E/C.19/2024/4) and urges Member States to integrate the proposed innovative practices and sustainable economic models into national policies while supporting Indigenous entrepreneurship with a view to upholding traditional knowledge and sustainable development.
