The Permanent Forum recommends that the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), in collaboration with WHO, the secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity, FAO and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research prepare and implement a series of collaborative global and regional training sessions and seminars by 2025 for Indigenous Peoples concerning their traditional knowledge, traditional cultural expression, genetic resources, folklore, medicinal plants and traditional medicine, and their own food, beverage and medical products businesses.
The Permanent Forum recommends that States implement emission reductions to limit the increase in average global temperature to no more than 1.5oC to avoid the increased impact of climate change.
The Permanent Forum urges the International Union for Conservation of Nature and the secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity to undertake, in collaboration with indigenous peoples, a study on the contributions of indigenous peoples to the management of ecosystems and the protection of biodiversity, and submit a report to the Forum by its nineteenth session.
The Permanent Forum recommends that States develop mechanisms through which they can monitor and report on the impacts of climate change on indigenous peoples, mindful of their socio-economic limitations as well as spiritual and cultural attachment to lands and waters.
