The Permanent Forum invites UNESCO to create, in cooperation with academic institutions and indigenous peoples’ institutions, a universal digital platform in which digital resources for indigenous languages can be created, stored and made available to indigenous peoples and researchers in order to preserve linguistic diversity.

Responses

UNESCO: Digital Platform to collect information archives for the preservation and revitalization of Indigenous languages in Brazil with the Goeldi Museum, the Brazilian Institute of Science and Technology (IBICT).

Under the Output ‘Public and private partnerships are firmly established to place on the global agenda a long-term commitment to the preservation, revitalization and promotion of Indigenous languages’, the establishment of data collection ‘coalitions’ on Indigenous languages with appropriate assessment methodologies and resources available on a global online platform accessible to all stakeholders is foreseen.
