Addressee: United Nations Development Program (UNDP)

Paragraph #82Session #4 (2005)

Full Text

The Forum welcomes the contributions of the United Nations Development Program, the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank to data-collection and disaggregation projects and recommends that these processes develop indicators that are culturally sensitive to indigenous peoples

Responses

UNDP's Regional Indigenous Peoples Program in South East Asia is implementing a data disaggregation project through the Tebtebba Foundation, which seeks to address the lack of accurate information gathering vis-à-vis indigenous peoples. This involves working with the National Statistics Office of the Philippines to determine ways in which disaggregation of data can be institutionalized, and preliminary surveying is taking place in three provinces. Please see E/C.19/2006/6/Add.6.
