The Forum recommends that the Economic and Social Council, the relevant United Nations cooperating agencies and Governments of the region provide technical facilities and grant the necessary political and moral support for organizing:

(a) The Fourth Continental Summit of Indigenous Women of the Americas, to be held in Lima in March 2004;

(b) The Second Continental Conference of Indigenous Women of Africa, to be held in Nairobi, 2003;

(c) The Second Conference of Asian Indigenous Women, to be held in 2004.

The Permanent Forum notes the second World Conference of Indigenous Women, which will be organized in 2020 by the International Indigenous Women’s Forum, in cooperation with regional indigenous women’s networks and hosted by the Saìmi Nisson Forum. The global agenda for promoting the rights of indigenous women in the context of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women and of the International Conference on Population and Development will be discussed at the World Conference. The Forum encourages Member States and United Nations entities to support the organization of the World Conference of Indigenous Women and the participation of indigenous women from all seven sociocultural regions.

The Permanent Forum recommends that indigenous peoples’ organizations, as well as the United Nations entities in the Inter-Agency Network on Youth Development and the Inter-Agency Support Group on Indigenous Peoples’ Issues, consult indigenous youth-led organizations in order to include issues pertaining to indigenous youth in their work at the local, national, regional and global levels.
